Airline AnimaWings has temporarily grounded all flights to reorganize flight plans, following Wednesday’s announcement of initiating judicial reorganization proceedings to protect and continue operations.
„Flights are temporarily suspended until flight plans are reorganized. Our priority right now is informing passengers and minimizing the impact on them,” AnimaWings representatives said Thursday.
The company announced Wednesday evening that it initiated judicial reorganization proceedings, aiming to access the necessary legal protection framework for continuing activity, stabilizing operations, and restructuring obligations sustainably.
AnimaWings stated that repeated technical issues encountered at fleet level generated successive effects on aircraft availability and, implicitly, on operational, commercial, and financial activity.
The decision follows a period during which repeated technical problems at fleet level produced cascading effects on aircraft availability and, by extension, on the company’s operational, commercial, and financial activity. To these were added pressures from a difficult economic context, reduced purchasing power, prolonged political instability, and rising oil-related costs, which continue to exert pressure on aviation operating costs worldwide, the company specified in a statement.
In this context, company representatives argued that AnimaWings’ current financial structure is temporarily blocked, and accessing the protection offered by judicial reorganization creates the necessary framework for restructuring obligations and continuing company activity.
According to the cited source, in the coming period, the flight schedule will be adjusted to available operational capacity. AnimaWings will continue operating with the two available Airbus A320 aircraft, but reduced capacity could lead to schedule changes, including rescheduling or cancellation of specific flights.
„As a result of temporarily reduced capacity, in the coming days schedule changes are possible, including rescheduling or cancellation of specific flights,” the statement also says.
Affected passengers will be informed directly via contact details associated with reservations. For flights that can no longer be operated, the company will provide applicable solutions for each situation, including the possibility of refunds or, where possible, alternative travel solutions.
The company also stated that given the high volume of anticipated requests during this period, Customer Support response time may be longer than usual. Requests will be prioritized based on proximity to travel date, with priority for passengers traveling in the immediate upcoming period.
„It is a difficult but necessary decision to protect what we built over the past years and, above all, to be able to continue. Repeated fleet technical problems produced chain effects on our entire activity in a relatively short time, in an economic context that further amplified this pressure. We chose to act responsibly and access the legal framework allowing us to protect the company, operations, and AnimaWings’ outlook. The immediate priority is our passengers and maintaining as many flights as possible. AnimaWings will continue operating in an adapted format. This is a difficult stage we must go through to build the company’s next phase on sustainable bases,” declared Marius Pandel, CEO AnimaWings, in the cited statement.
